One day introductory course in making silver jewellery.  

Usual times 10am - 4.00pm (with a break for lunch). Tea/coffee will be provided, please bring your own packed lunch.

About the day:

This day is designed for people with little or no experience of silver jewellery making.  Students with jewellery making experience are welcome to book on this day, but please get in touch after booking to discuss what projects you would like to make. 

You will come away with at least two pieces of finished silver jewellery at the end of the day.

Beginners will learn about basic tools, workshop practice and traditional jewellery techniques for working in silver. You can expect to make and finish a simple band ring in the morning and then move on to learning to texture metals and cut out sheet silver to make a pendant or a pair of earrings in the afternoon.

The workshops are held at my well equipped jewellery workshop on the banks of the River Tamar in South Hooe, near Bere Alston in West Devon. The studio is located in a very peaceful location. It is a working studio with basic facilites but is full of charm and character.

All tools are provided and the fee covers the cost of materials for the first project, making a simple band ring. Silver for the pther projects is charged at cost and this is variable depending on what you decide to make (on average most people pay an addional £5.00 - £10.00 for the silver they use).

Following booking you will be sent an email with directions and details of what to bring. You will also be provided with teas, coffees and snacks.  Please bring your own packed lunch, if the weather is fine we will have breaks outside.  

Please note that this course is for adults.  Under 18s aged 12+ can attend by prior arrangement but need to be accompanied by a full fee paying adult workshop participant. 

Group sizes are always small so you will get plenty of individual attention.
