3 sessions over the summer - 11th July, 1st August, 22nd August
Keep your jewellery making going over the summer - This is an opportunity to set aside some time, get out your tools out and make some things over the summer. There will be demonstrations of techniques, discussions of projects, troubleshooting the chance to make your jewellery during the session. The sessions are relaxed and friendly and you will be working with everyone and in smaller groups.
There will also be plenty of opportunity to discuss and toubleshoot any other projects that you might be working on.
Numbers will be limited so you will have plenty of individual attention.
This course is people who have experience in making silver jewellery and have their own tools at home.
Sessions are 2 hours long and delivered on Zoom. You will need to have access to the internet.
Each week there will be live demonstrations, tips and videos with participants having a go during the session. There will then be small group working while you work on your own to practice the techniques; this will be followed by a further whole group session to share what we have done and troubleshoot. I will offer suggestions and ideas to enable you to extend the project.
The structure is such that most of the formal demonstrations occur during the first hour so if you were away you could just dip in to that part of the class.
The live sessions are backed up by a social media group where you can ask questions during the week and post what you are making.
Please note that sessions are not recorded and so you need to be presnt during the session.
The first session will show you how to easily make a prong style setting for an irregular stone such as an uncut gemstone or irregular found object.
Other sessions will cover other ways of setting and trapping stones and other objects to make mixed-media pieces. The emphasis of the sessions is to equip you with some techniques that will spark imagination to make your individual pieces.
The live sessions are backed up by a social media group (WhatsApp) where you can ask questions during the week and post what you are making.
