Whiteknights Brooch: A Scene in Precious Metals Looking Across The University of Reading Lake
A Special Brooch Celebrating 20 years of The Whiteknights Studio Trail in Reading and is inspired by the beautiful University of Reading Campus.
I'm sorry this brooch is now sold. Please get in touch if you would like to commission something similar.
This Brooch was made to celebrate 20 years of The Whiteknights Studio trail in Reading.
It is made from silver, gold (22ct yellow gold, 18ct rose and yellow gold) and the stone is a garnet.
The shape of the Whiteknights brooch is the outline of the University Campus (orientated with Whightknights Road at the base). The dots indicate the perimeter of the campus and the little arrows show all the pedestrian footpaths entries onto the Campus. For the last thirty years I have lived within a stone's throw of the campus and its many footpaths have given access to the beautiful wildlife that can be found in the park. The scene of the brooch is inspired by a walk along the path that runs along the top of the lake adjacent to Whiteknights Road, it depicts the rushes and reeds that line the path with the lake and the rest of the campus beyond. I chose a garnet for the stone as it symbolises the university colours.
This brooch features in a book "The Art and History of Whiteknights" published by Two Rivers Press June 2020.
