One day introductory course in making silver jewellery.
This day is designed for people with little or no experience of silver jewellery making. Students with jewellery making experience are welcome to book on this course, but please get in touch after booking to discuss what projects you would like to make.
Beginners will learn about basic tools, workshop practice and traditional jewellery techniques for working in silver. You can expect to make and finish a simple band ring in the morning and then move on to learning to texture metals and cut out sheet silver to make a pendant or a pair of earrings in the afternoon.
The workshops are held at my studio in Mortimer, near Reading in Berkshire.
The size of the class is small, so you will have plenty of individual attention.
The time is 10am - 4.00pm (with a break for lunch)
All tools are provided and the fee covers the cost of materials for the first project and most probably the second one too unless you work very quickly or want to make bigger pieces, in that case extra silver will be charged at cost.
Following booking you will be sent an email with directions and details of what to bring. You will also be provided with teas, coffees and snacks. Please bring your own packed lunch, if the weather is fine we will have breaks outside.
Please note that this course is for adults. Under 18s aged 12+ can attend by prior arrangement but need to be accompanied by a full fee paying adult workshop participant.
If you are booking for more than one person you will need to checkout for each person as you cannot add multiples of one item to the basket.
We will be observing some COVID19 safeguarding procedures and these will outlined following booking, if you want to find out more please use the contact form or call 07906 434680 to discuss.
This course needs a minumum number of people for it to run. If it does not go ahead you will be offered an alternative suitable date.
